We're back!

Hi all,

Sorry I've been so...absent. In case you didn't notice, there hasn't been much action with IVRY lately; but the good news is, there is going to be much action very soon!

We decided in May to take a break from playing shows so we could hone our new sound. And it is now very honed and ready to go. We're finishing up our new EP, due in mid October - in the meantime, check out our updated website (www.ivrytheband.com), sign up to our mailing list either there or at our Myspace (www.myspace.com/ivrytheband) and find out about the new sound, get the new limited release vinyl EP for free, and an invitation to the release/coming back party!

Next show up: post-game show at Newburgh Stadium in front of...say, 2,500 people? Sound good? Yeah it sounds pretty fucking good to me...Plus, I sing the National Anthem BEFORE the show. For the first time. Needless to say I'm pretty pumped. NEW SONG TO BE UNVEILED!!!

Dear lovely listeners,

So much happens in a week. Or two? Not quite sure; time is merely a blur. Wow that sounds like a really terrible song.

Just played Purchase for the first time in the Stood (aka the Student Center for those not in the know). Tons of fun, though only one CD was sold, and no one joined the mailing list. No biggy, no pac, no problem, but it would be nice to have a massive mailing monster.

On another note, we need a manager. Sooooooo if any of you Lovelies knows a good one, please send him/her/it my way. And they better not be a douche-bag or I'll find you. Because you're one of only a few readers on the blog thus far in these early stages, so it shouldn't be very hard to narrow down the list... ;0)

Show coming up on Cinco de Mayo! It's a Tuesday this year, but oh what FUN! We go on at a conveniently early time of 8PM so you still have the ability to get yer 8 hours of sleepytimes after seeing the show AND get your party on! London stylz for real kiddys. Peace.

The 1st of Many

Dear my lovely listeners,

So this is what's up.

This is the official IVRY blog, for IVRY the band.

And I am your official blog host, Henry. Ivry. Do you see the connection? Goooooodies.

This is my first blog ever, and therefore probably longer than the following ones. I guess I'm sooo behind the times, but you know what?! That's OK. You know what they say about the band wagon. No? Well, me neither. But bear with me as I'm sure I'm breaking all sorts of holy blog rules that everyone knows except for me.

Anyway, so I thought, "hey, maybe now's the time to start one! I will make it both about me and the band! What fun this could be!" At least, I hope it will be, because if it is not fun, then it shall CEASE TO EXIST.

So I've been writing a lot of material lately; the dry season is over, and monsoon season has begun. It's very appropriate, you see, as Spring is upon us. Well, very slowly upon us.

I've been rather 'blocked' up (in a writing sense of course) until recently, whereupon I found a new place for me to write. I think the fact that I probably shouldn't be writing songs in this place makes it all the more fun - and forbidden. It all sounds rather scandalous, but it's really quite ordinary if you knew the place I was talking about. But for now it shall remain a mystery, as I'm afraid that if I give it away the fact that thou should know would ruin the inspirational feel that it giveth me in the first place. And if the wretched guardians of this space knew I was writing there and happened to read this (however unlikely) then perhaps I would not be able to write there anymore. SOOO, you see, it's better for all of us if you all don't know where it is. Besides, it adds a mystery air to my persona, and my sex appeal goes up like infinity points. The place could be anywhere...just think about it...maybe even your basement.

I haven't even mentioned anything about the band as of yet. Le-sigh. Well! We are currently looking for a new rehearsal space in NYC that's f'ing CHEAP. I'm talking violently cheap. Like, stab-a-bitch-in-the-face cheap. If anyone knows of such a place, we are open for suggestions. For now, it's looking as if it shall be Astoria, Astoria, Astoria, as that is where I live and there's a cheap place just around the riverbend from me. We're also looking for some new venues that would be fun to play; perhaps it's time to branch out to Brooklyn as we're growing weary of playing the same venues again and again (no offense, repeat venues! We still love you but maybe it's time we saw other people...).

We will be playing SUNY Purchase on APRIL 25! And I would love to see your wonderful, smiling, drunken face there. It's for the Submission Gala, and my friend Jay (Asian Jay as many know him) got us the gig. It's our first Purchase gig - I know, hard to believe. Then we play AGAIN at Purchase on MAY 7! You're probably saying, 'Henry, that's like not even 2 weeks apart.' I would respond to you: 'it's not 'like' 2 weeks apart, that IS 2 weeks apart. Well, just under, but we can round it there.' I would also say, 'you should come to this show because it's free. Oh yeah, and if you don't I'll fucking kill you.' Actually I wouldn't say that last sentence unless I knew you really well, because that would make things awkward. So I think I shall end this entry now, as I am beastly hungry.
